Certain trees - ancient and/or veteran trees, for example - are set apart in importance by virtue of their cultural, ecological and historical significance.

These trees require a different standard of care and methods of management given the amount of wildlife they accomodate as well as the presence of unique habitats for endangered invertebrates.
